The Conquest of the Web
It all started with a piece of paper many years ago. It proclaimed itself a Certificate of Graduation from the Attila the Hun School of Management. Given some peoples opinion of my management style, it just seemed appropriate to proclaim it with a plaque on my cube wall.
The next step developed with my writing career. Many famous columnists are fellows at various think tanks. I wondered, What think tank would fit my ideas, my personality, and my writing style? And then my eyes fell upon the certificate I had awarded myself so many years before, now on the wall of my home office. With that, I proclaimed myself Curmudgeon-in-Residence of the Attila the Hun School of Management. Only...I found to my chagrin that I was commenting much more broadly on topics than just about management. One day, the Attila the Hun School of Poetry and Writing was born. Naturally, the Schools proliferated from there.
I spent several years contributing to other Websites, but finally decided I should give the Attila the Hun Schools a true presence on the Web. About the same time, a friend of mine had garnered some negative attention on a writing site by posting a rant on the utility of proper spelling and grammar in writing. Naturally, she was immediately appointed an Associate Curmudgeon-in-Residence here at the Attila the Hun Schools. And we continue to grow from that foundation.
